Rebuilt for a purpose! Acts 15:6-21

“The apostles and elders met together to consider this matter. And after much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that through my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, giving them the Holy Spirit as well as to us, and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test, putting a yoke on the disciples' necks that neither our fathers nor we could bear? But we believe that we will be saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they are.” And the whole assembly was silent, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul as they related the signs and wonders that God had done through them among the Gentiles. After they finished speaking, James replied, “Brothers, listen to me. Simeon related how God first visited the Gentiles, to take from them a people for his name. And with this agree the words of the prophets, as it is written: “'After this I will return, and I will rebuild the tent of David which has fallen; I will rebuild its ruins and restore it, so that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles that are called by my name, says the Lord, who has made these things known from ancient times.' Therefore, my judgment is, that we should not trouble Gentiles who turn to God, but should write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled and from blood. For from ancient generations Moses had in every city those who proclaimed it, for it is read every Sabbath in the synagogues.”
